Spinel

Large red Spinel crystal with good luster and areas of gemminess. This is a good sized spinel for the locality and very good quality for what is typically available. The gem value of these crystals is just so high that typically any crystal with even a hint of gem value is broken up for rough, and what is left for us collectors are chalky, brick colored crystals that aren't so appealing. In fact I'm shocked this one survived because there are plenty of small areas where stones could be cut in this crystal.
