Abundant Gold and black sulfides in an open pocket of vuggy Quartz. Mined in April 2007 from the 'B' vein of the Lecanvey prospect. The mountain where this was found, Croagh Patrick, is famous as Ireland's holy mountain, where it's patron saint, Patrick, is said to have fasted and prayed. St. Patrick's pocket was a small area of porous quartz where sulfide (likely pyrite) had long ago oxidised and washed out, leaving the Gold. This is considered an exceptionally rich specimen from the find. The Gold is approximately 85% gold and 15% silver. Ex. Tim Sherburn collection.
