Deep red, hexagonal Ruby crystal surrounded by green Zoisite. This specimen is exceptional for the sharp hexagonal form of the Ruby crystal. On most of these, either because of the way the rock breaks or the shape of the Ruby crystals themselves, the rubies are more amorphous-looking without the hexagonal shape. The Zoisite has a bright lime green coloration with thin seams of black schist running through it. On this specimen, about half the display face is exposed to one of the black schist seams, creating even more color contrast. The Ruby crystal is 5cm wide. This is a big heavy piece and I've seen these sliced up into multiple slabs on polished - I like the natural look of this one. Ex. John Dabney collection. Valued at $950 in my regular website galleries.
