Cut slab of fossiliferous agate from Wyoming. Rich in fossil snail shells, the smooth front and back faces show the insides of the snails while the edges reveal the outer surfaces in their natural state. These agates formed about 50 million years ago, during the Eocene epoch, during the growth of the Rocky Mountains.
