Bright metallic Calaverite in a Quartz vein in rock matrix. Calaverite is is an uncommon telluride of gold with the chemical formula AuTe2. It was first discovered in Calaveras County, California in 1861. This specimen has areas of Calaverite to 5mm in size. The Quartz vein runds through the entire specimen and there is additonal Calaverite on the other side.
