Fossil tree sap containing a large number of well preserved insects. There is a particulalry well preserved fly near the center. Like amber, copal is fossilzed tree sap, though younger in age. This copal is from the tree species Hymenaea verrucosa and believed to be from the Quaternary Period. One of the largest pieces I was able to obtain.
