A fossil bivalve shell that has been completely replaced by pink Rhodochrosite. The shell is wonderfully preserved with both sides present and in perfect condition except where cut. One end has been cut to reveal the pink Rhodochrosite inside. The old iron mine where these were found is long closed and these are no longer being found. A very well preserved example. I've been looking for these for years and there just aren't many to be found, none at recent shows. This is one of the last that I stockpiled from years ago.
