Fossil shell that has been replaced by translucent golden agate. These are found on the surface, having weathered out of the surrounding rock formations. There are about 40 different species found at this deposit. Although they could have weathered out of different formations, they are all believed to be Eocene in age. Most are broken pieces and weathered and perfectly preserved examples such as this are uncommon, probably less than 5 percent of what is found. Fine quality example of an uncommonly seen species.
