'Gitter' Quartz ps. Feldspar

Large Quartz pseudomorph after Feldspar. These are known as 'Gitter Quartz\" (a German name for fence or lattice Quartz) or simply 'Lattice Quartz'. The Quartz crystals normally form epitaxially on Feldspar with either single or multiple Feldspar crystals covered with oriented Quartz crystals on the sides. This one however is a complete replacement of the Feldspar (you see nothing but Quartz when looking at the base). It's both large in size and has large Quartz crystals that extend out in four directions from the former Feldspar crystal. The base is recrystallized. The Erongo Mountains is the only locality I'm aware of that produces this style of unusual Quartz specimens.
