Well terminated, transparent Creedite crystal from Bolivia. Ex. Dennis Ewell collection. Ewell's label indicates 'Catavi' as the locality. From MINDAT:'The locality name 'Catavi' appears on many old specimen labels from Bolivia, especially during the 1950s to 1970s. Catavi actually refers to the mill which processed ore from the Siglo Veinte tin mine, and the name of the surrounding residential area, and the name of the administrative office of that division of COMIBOL (Corporacion Minera de Bolivia), the state mining company. There are no significant mineral specimens from Catavi itself, except a few from the metasedimentary country rock. In general, almost all minerals labelled 'Catavi' are really from the Siglo Veinte mine (qv).'
