Sylvanite

Superb old time specimen of the silver and gold telluride mineral Sylvanite. The crystals form flattened, bright metallic graphic intergrowths known as 'Schrifterz'. This specimen was from the collection of a German professor who emigrated to the U.S. and comes with an old Wilhelm Maucher label that dates the specimen back to at least 1936, and the specimen likely dates back to the 1800s.
